Ruth- Groomer

Ruth, the groomer

Hi, I’m Ruth, the manager and Lead Groomer at Petopia at Underhill. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve had a deep passion for animals, and over time, dogs have became my favorite. I decided to turn this passion into a career, and I have been working in the grooming and daycare industry for the past 15 years. I come from a background of owning two locations myself and for the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of working with Underhill Animal Hospital, I’m truly honored and grateful to have played a role in creating Petopia at Underhill. I take great pride in providing a safe, welcoming space for our furry friends.

Our Dog Grooming Services

We offer a wide range of grooming services to keep your dog feeling fresh and healthy:

Dog Bathing

Our baths use premium, pet-safe shampoos and conditioners to gently cleanse your dog’s coat, removing dirt, dander, and odors. We tailor our products to your pet’s skin type, offering hypoallergenic or medicated options as needed. A warm rinse and gentle drying process leave your pup feeling fresh and comfortable.

Dog Nail Trimming

Keeping your dog’s nails properly trimmed is essential for joint health and mobility. Overgrown nails can cause discomfort, affect posture, and even lead to injury. Our groomers carefully trim nails to a safe length, reducing the risk of cracking or splitting.

Ear Cleaning

Regular ear cleaning helps prevent infections, wax buildup, and discomfort. We gently remove debris and inspect for any signs of ear issues, ensuring your pet’s ears stay healthy and irritation-free.

Coat Brushing & De-Shedding

Brushing removes loose fur, prevents tangles, and reduces excessive shedding in your home. For heavy shedders, our de-shedding treatments help minimize loose hair while keeping the coat soft and manageable.

Breed-Specific Haircuts & Styling

Every breed has unique grooming needs. Our skilled groomers offer custom cuts tailored to breed standards or your personal preferences, keeping your dog looking great while ensuring their coat remains healthy and manageable.

Paw & Pad Trimming

Excess fur on the paws can trap dirt and moisture, leading to irritation or slipping on smooth surfaces. We carefully trim the fur between the paw pads for cleanliness and improved traction.

How Often Should My Dog Be Groomed?

The frequency of grooming depends on your dog’s breed, coat type, and lifestyle:

  • Short-haired breeds: Every 4-8 weeks for basic maintenance.
  • Long-haired breeds: Every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting.
  • Dogs prone to shedding: Regular de-shedding treatments help reduce loose fur.
  • Active dogs: More frequent bathing may be needed for dogs who love outdoor adventures.
